Algae is incorporated into the sole of the Amiata trainer, saving a significant amount of water and energy in production. This algae is classed as 'recycled'. When algae grows rapidly, it has an adverse effect on ecosystems, so it's gathered when waterways are being cleaned. Rather than being seen as waste, the algae is collected to be converted into a component of the sole.
